Catherine Oswald is a self portrait artist working with oil paint on canvas and pastel works on paper.

Catherine has been exhibited across the West Coast. Her work is sold to private collectors throughout the United States.

In March, 2000, Oswald, closed a full time retail gallery/studio featuring her work,  packed up almost all of her belongings into storage, and began a seasonal Spring/Summer six month journey where Oswald's goal was to keep her journal on postcards; Catherine has kept her journal on postcards, napkins, and other bits and shards of paper since high school.

Oswald has assembled an original book which includes one hundred and twenty postcards from their travels to Napa Valley, The Columbia River Gorge, Oregon State, Washington State, John Muir Wilderness, Ansel Adams Wilderness, Yosemite National Park, Devils Postpile National Monument, Mammoth Lakes, Mt. Rainer National Park, and Olympic National Park.

Catherine chased spring wildflower blooms and landscapes and depicted these on wonderful hand made postcards as her daily journal.

Each page of the work has the front and back of the postcard mounted on it, so the reader can read along while looking at the original art. The postcards include gardens, vineyards, events (such as concerts), and other compelling travel stops the pair made.

Oswald is keenly interested in the opinions of talented people within the publishing and arts community over this work. Oswald has kept her journal on postcards, napkins, and other mediums since 1986 and has continued her Postcard Journal; recently beginning  to assemble her 2007-2008 journal into her latest book: Haiku on a Dime/Bukowski Shotgun Weddings/Postcards to Myself.
